We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue. As a Psychiatric Social Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with social and emotional problems.

About the Role

This is a challenging yet rewarding position that requires a strong understanding of human growth and development, as well as the ability to accommodate cultural differences of patients and families. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary clinical staff to deliver safe, quality patient care and services under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse.

Responsibilities
  • Promote a therapeutic environment by introducing yourself to patients and explaining what will be done for/with each patient.
  • Assure patient privacy at all times, including drawing curtains/closing doors while providing care.
  • Gather patient data and document on flow sheets, including temperature, pulse, respiration, BP, height, weight, and finger stick.
  • Reports observations of patients/data to the RN consistently throughout tours.
Requirements
  • Six (6) months of satisfactory experience assisting patients with daily living and therapeutic activities.
  • Holds or obtains a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association within sixty (60) calendar days of appointment.
