As a Mental Health Support Specialist at NYC Health Hospitals, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate care to patients with emotional problems and handicaps. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
In this position, you will be responsible for performing therapeutic activities, maintaining direct contact with patients, and interacting with patients' families to promote social and health well-being. Your primary goal will be to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters patient recovery and growth.
You will work closely with registered professional nurses and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. This may involve conducting home visits, encouraging recommended referrals, and educating patients and their families about mental illness and substance abuse symptoms.

About You:
We are seeking a qualified and empathetic individual who possesses excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you will have the following minimum qualifications:
- Six months of experience assisting patients with daily living and therapeutic activities in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- A valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
