Mental Health Support Specialist

New York University seeks a highly skilled Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team. This is a part-time per diem position, requiring up to 14 hours of work per week.
In this role, you will answer mental health hotline calls, manage high-risk situations, and provide referrals for concrete resources. You will also conduct remote clinical assessments with students to evaluate the seriousness of their presenting problems, offer in-the-moment support, and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Your expertise in crisis intervention and experience working with diverse student populations will be invaluable in this position. NY State licensure or eligibility (limited permit) is required.
Key Responsibilities- Answer mental health hotline calls and manage high-risk situations
- Provide referrals for concrete resources and conduct remote clinical assessments
- Develop treatment plans and offer in-the-moment support
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure as an LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, PsyD, or PhD in Social Work or Psychology
- Post-graduate experience in crisis response, college mental health, short-term counseling, and group therapy
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse student populations
The hourly rate for this position is $60/hour. New York University considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, and market considerations when extending an offer.
