Job Overview

PepperBall is seeking a Quality Engineer - Supplier Development to join our team. This role plays a key part in supporting our mission by partnering with the Supply Chain to drive strategic quality initiatives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing long-lasting relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality and supply chain excellence. This involves assessing, developing, and improving the performance of our suppliers to meet PepperBall's high standards for safety and quality.

The Quality Engineer - Supplier Development will lead efforts that enhance supplier performance, align with our mission, and contribute to the success of PepperBall's life-saving products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in supplier sourcing and development, with a focus on quality, performance, and delivery.
  • Lead new supplier qualification audits for strategic suppliers and manage improvements through Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA) systems.
  • Develop training materials and educate suppliers on PepperBall's quality processes, including 8D, CAPA, SCAR, FMEA, and PPAP.
  • Set and manage supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), with a focus on quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Maintain and update supplier performance metrics, including QMS scores, audit schedules, and profiles within the SRM system.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers and the Sourcing team on quality improvement programs, ensuring suppliers implement effective QMS controls.
  • Lead supplier development projects aimed at systemic process improvements and enhancing QMS capabilities.
  • Assess supplier capabilities and recommend areas for improvement to meet PepperBall's quality standards.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop and deploy supply management policies, processes, and procedures focused on continuous improvement and standard work.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, with at least 3 years in supplier quality/development preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
  • Certification in ASQ Quality Engineering (CQE), Manager of Quality Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP) is preferred.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects.
