Position Overview
This role is responsible for conducting follow-up activities related to insurance billing and collections, managing a minimum of 30 claims daily; making collection calls, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of claims, and liaising with insurance providers and collection agencies to expedite payments for medical services rendered.

Job Responsibilities

Key Duties
  • Conducts follow-up on collections for various financial categories, including commercial insurance, self-pay, Medicare, and Medicaid claims.
  • Initiates collection calls to insurance entities and patients to facilitate prompt payment of claims.
  • Analyzes remittance advices for discrepancies and verifies payment accuracy.
  • Ensures the accuracy and completeness of charge tickets, overseeing necessary attachments for claims to maximize reimbursement.
  • Communicates with insurance companies regarding payment postings and collaborates with collection agencies on payment reports.
  • Addresses inquiries and requests from insurance providers.
  • Assists the customer service team in resolving billing and collection inquiries.
  • Provides backup support for Accounts Receivable personnel during peak periods, absences, or illnesses.
  • Contributes to the training of team members.
Preferred Skills

Proficient in computer usage, general office equipment, telephone systems, medical terminology, collection strategies, and communication skills that respect confidentiality.

Required Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Two to three years of relevant experience in bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical collections.
Grade Level
C06-H

Compensation Range
$25.40 / Hourly

The compensation range reflects base salaries for roles within a specific job grade across the institution. Individual compensation will be influenced by qualifications, performance, departmental equity, market rates, and budget considerations.
