The Marine Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all mechanical equipment on the vessel. This includes the main engines, generators, and other auxiliary systems. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of marine engineering principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain all mechanical equipment on the vessel, including main engines, generators, and auxiliary systems.
- Perform routine and emergency repairs to the vessel's mechanical systems.
- Conduct regular inspections of the vessel's mechanical systems to ensure they are in good working order.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure the vessel's mechanical systems are properly maintained.
- Collaborate with other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
- U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) endorsed as a National Assistant Engineer Limited 6000 HP or greater or a National Designated Duty Engineer Any HP 500 GRT or greater.
- Valid medical certificate.
- Transportation Worker Identification Card.
- Minimum endorsement as a National Chief Engineer (Limited) of Motor Propelled Vessels of less than 1600 Gross Register Tons (GRT) upon Near Coastal without a horsepower limitation.
The Marine Engineer will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent changes in weather and sea conditions. The successful candidate must be able to work well under pressure and have excellent problem-solving skills.
