Job Title: Senior Director of International Media Relations

Special Olympics is seeking a highly experienced Senior Director of International Media Relations to lead our global media relations efforts. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive media relations strategy that showcases the impact of our organization and advances our mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a global media relations strategy that supports the organization's strategic objectives and priorities.
  • Identify and pitch media opportunities to secure coverage in top-tier media outlets, both domestically and internationally.
  • Collaborate with programmatic area communications leads and regional communications teams to ensure consistent branding and messaging across all media channels.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts and influencers to secure media coverage and promote the organization's work.
  • Provide media training and support to organizational executives, staff, and other spokespeople to ensure they are equipped to effectively communicate the organization's message.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in media relations, with a proven track record of securing media coverage for a global brand.
  • Strong understanding of emerging media platforms and trends, with the ability to adapt and evolve media relations strategies accordingly.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-cultural environment, with a strong understanding of global media landscapes and cultural nuances.
