Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement community-based projects that advance the mission of Bridgewater State University and its partners.
  • Collaborate with university staff and community organizations to design and implement projects that promote social justice and civic engagement.
  • Engage in project-based work that assists community organizations in meeting their goals and objectives.
  • Meet regularly with university staff and community partners to discuss project progress and provide updates.
  • Attend and actively participate in all scheduled training workshops and meetings with the Justice Fellow cohort.
  • Develop and maintain accurate documentation of work performed and tasks completed.
  • Represent Bridgewater State University and the Justice Fellow program in various capacities across campus and in the community.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience with volunteer work, internship(s), job(s), and/or other community involvement.
  • Demonstrated passion for social justice and civic engagement along with a steadfast commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, access, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and other students.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable within a fast-paced, nonprofit environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to convey ideas and information with students, staff, and community partners.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to self-motivate and work independently once provided instruction.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Seeking experience working with peers in a leadership capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with community organizations or in a nonprofit setting.
  • Experience with project management and coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of social justice issues and civic engagement strategies.
