Job Summary

UTMB Health is seeking a skilled Vocational Nurse to join our team. As a Vocational Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of patients and perform nursing procedures within the scope of your education and demonstrated abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care given.
  • Participate in admission, discharge, and transfer procedures, and review and modify the plan of care as needed.
  • Deliver designated nursing interventions to assigned patients, consistent with the state medical plan of care.
  • Notify appropriate nursing and medical staff of changes in patient status, and recognize patient care priorities, multidisciplinary treatment plans, and potential patient care crises.
  • Follow physician's orders in the delivery of nursing care, and maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and properly, and execute written physician's orders for assigned patients.
  • Adhere to required infection control, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques in the delivery of patient care.
  • Document nursing care in all assigned patient records, and adhere to internal controls and reporting structures.
Requirements
  • High school or equivalent.
  • Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current license/permit as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas.
  • No experience required.
  • Current BLS-HP required.
  • Will consider recent graduates with temporary permits.
