Position Overview: The Nuclear Operations Technician is responsible for a variety of critical tasks, including:

  • Nuclear Material Management: Handling operations, transfers, dismantling, examination, and testing of nuclear materials.
  • Equipment Operation: Maintaining and operating product line equipment essential for the receipt, discharge, loading, examination, testing, dismantling, or refurbishment of nuclear components and related hardware.
  • Cask Handling: Preparing casks for nuclear material removal, transfer, discharge, loading, and shipment.
  • Installation and Removal: Installing and removing equipment, components, and waste to support nuclear product line activities.

Training and Qualifications: Technicians are required to engage in continuous training and must successfully complete various written and practical examinations to validate their knowledge and skills. Candidates should possess:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a mechanical field or nuclear material handling.
  • Professional experience in equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Education and/or experience in a mechanical field.
  • Experience in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
