Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing educational services to youth in a correctional setting with a wide variety of temperaments and specialized needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate an active learning environment.
  • Observe and evaluate youth's performance and development; provide appropriate feedback on work; and encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
  • Identify the learning needs of students and interpret assessment information. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet youths' varying needs.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of youths' progress and development; and update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws and agency policies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and a valid Secondary Texas Teacher Certification in the specified subject assignment area.
  • Must be highly qualified in all areas of teaching assignment.
