Mercedes Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Teacher to join our team at Mercedes. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing students with a high-quality education in English/ESL, while also promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.

• Instructional Strategies
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Prepare engaging and interactive lessons that promote student participation and understanding.
  • Utilize a range of teaching techniques and resources to support student learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver curriculum programs.
  • Supervise and support teacher aides and volunteers as needed.
  • Integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
  • Employ a variety of teaching strategies to engage and motivate students.
• Student Growth and Development
  • Assist students in developing effective study habits and strategies.
  • Regularly assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents.
  • Support students in extracurricular activities and sponsor outside programs as assigned.
  • Model positive behavior and values that promote student growth and development.
• Classroom Management and Organization
  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.
  • Establish clear expectations and rules for student behavior.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
  • Use data to inform instruction and drive student learning.
  • Develop and implement formative assessments to measure student understanding.
  • Use the district-approved scope and sequence to plan instruction.
  • Utilize resources to support student learning.
  • Exhibit professionalism and ethics in all interactions.
  • Assist in the selection of instructional materials.
• Communication
  • Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
• Professional Growth and Development
  • Participate in staff development programs to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.

• Policy Implementation
  • Stay informed of and comply with district and school regulations and policies.
  • Assume responsibility for compiling and maintaining reports and records.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and staff committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
  Qualifications
  • Minimum Education/Certification:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
    • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements.
  • Special Knowledge/Skills:
    • Knowledge of English/ESL curriculum and instruction.
    • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Minimum Experience:
    • At least one year of student teaching or approved internship.
