Position Overview

The Pediatric Occupational Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, coordination, and delivery of high-quality occupational therapy services tailored to the needs of children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver occupational therapy services as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures while complying with all relevant patient care standards and state regulations.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify occupational therapy needs, set goals, and outline expected outcomes in collaboration with the referring physician's treatment plan.
  • Develop and maintain a written Plan of Care in conjunction with nursing staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Implement appropriate therapeutic techniques aligned with identified goals and treatment programs.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team, including physicians, parents/guardians, and nursing staff, to coordinate services and discharge planning.
  • Ensure patient safety through diligent care administration.
  • Stay informed about the patient's clinical status and progress.
  • Facilitate effective communication among staff, healthcare team members, and families.
  • Serve as a resource for clinical staff, providing guidance and support.
  • Provide regular written updates to physicians and Aveanna regarding patient needs, goals, and progress.
  • Participate in patient case conferences and in-service training as required.
  • Supervise other personnel, such as Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Home Health Aides (HHAs), when necessary.

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Current and unrestricted state license to practice Occupational Therapy.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Proven proficiency in clinical assessments and adherence to nursing care policies.

Preferred Experience
  • At least one year of recent experience as an Occupational Therapist in an acute care environment.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients.

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English.
  • Capability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting.
  • Capacity to sit and climb stairs.
  • Visual and hearing acuity.
  • Ability to reposition patients and move equipment without assistance.
  • Ability to respond physically and mentally to emergency situations.

Work Environment
  • Ability to function in diverse environments, which may include exposure to allergens and other conditions.
  • Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
