Position Overview:
The Pediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) is accountable for the assessment, coordination, and delivery of high-quality occupational therapy services to children in various settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services as directed by the physician.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures while complying with all relevant patient care standards and regulations.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify occupational therapy needs, set goals, and outline expected outcomes in collaboration with the referring physician's treatment plan.
- Develop and maintain a written Plan of Care to ensure continuity of care.
- Implement appropriate therapeutic techniques based on identified goals and treatment strategies.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team, including physicians, parents/guardians, and nursing staff, to coordinate services and discharge planning.
- Ensure patient safety during care delivery.
- Stay informed about the patient's clinical status and progress.
- Maintain effective communication with staff, healthcare team members, and families.
- Serve as a resource for clinical staff and provide regular updates to physicians regarding patient needs and progress.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Current and unrestricted Occupational Therapy license in the state of practice.
- Valid CPR certification.
- Experience in pediatric rehabilitative services is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as prolonged walking, standing, and bending.
- Must possess visual and hearing acuity and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
Work Environment:
- Ability to function in diverse environments, which may involve exposure to allergens and other conditions.
