Clinical Laboratory Assistant II

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Assistant II to join our team at PAMF-Palo Alto Medical Foundation PAD. As a Clinical Laboratory Assistant II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect blood specimens from patients and process them for laboratory testing.
- Interact with patients of diverse backgrounds and ages, providing compassionate and effective care.
- Sort and accession specimens, assigning them to the appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflow.
- Complete computerized tasks related to patient registration and test order entry, specimen collection, receiving, and processing.
- Perform basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports and storing or retrieving specimens.
- Complete quality-related tasks, such as documentation of work, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and monitoring pending work.
- Operate and use basic pre-analytic lab equipment.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure patient privacy and safety.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician I or II.
- 1 year of recent relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of standard principles, processes, procedures, and equipment related to laboratory testing.
- Ability to accurately and precisely perform job duties and assigned tasks.
- Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected timeframes.
- Ability to compassionately and effectively interact with patients of diverse backgrounds and ages.
Work Environment:
This is a short-hour position, working 19 hours per week. The schedule includes working on Fridays and Mondays, with occasional Saturday shifts.
Benefits:
This position is non-exempt and offers a competitive hourly rate of $31.60 to $39.50 per hour.
