Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nutrition Specialist to join our team at Williamsville Suburban Nursing Home. As a Nutrition Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing the nutritional needs of our patients and developing personalized care plans to ensure their optimal health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Nutritional Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' nutritional needs, including interviews and documentation of medical records.
  • Care Plan Development: Develop and implement patient-specific care plans, working closely with medical staff to ensure accurate and effective nutrition care.
  • Therapeutic Diet Modifications: Assist in recommending therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplemental feedings to physicians, ensuring accuracy of diet orders.
  • Nutrient Content Calculation: Calculate nutrient content of tube feeding and dietary intakes as ordered by physicians.
  • Nutritional Guidance: Provide nutritional guidance and counseling to patients and their families, promoting healthy eating habits and lifestyle choices.
  • Menu Development: Assist in developing and implementing standardized recipes, ensuring proper food handling and portion control.
  • Education and Training: Prepare and present individual and group education classes, as needed, to promote nutrition awareness and education.
  • Communication: Develop and utilize effective lines of communication regarding nutrition information within the facility, coordinating with an interdisciplinary team to provide quality care to residents.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain knowledge of applicable state and federal guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrate computer literacy and proficiency with EMR software and computer-based menu systems.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or related field required.
  • Certification: Current Registered Dietitian Certification with the NYS Department of Education.
