We are seeking qualified candidates for the Clinic Assistant role. Note: This position requires bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish. This is a Full-Time, Non-Exempt position reporting to the Director of Programs & HIV Services, with a starting hourly rate ranging from $25.16 to $27.04.


Primary Responsibilities:
The Clinic Assistant is responsible for facilitating the effective delivery of primary healthcare and HIV services to patients. Key duties include:

  • Assisting with reception tasks during clinic hours.
  • Monitoring patient flow from the front desk to back office for those accessing HIV Health Services.
  • Supporting quality assurance activities related to clinical excellence.
  • Acting as a liaison between Clinica Esperanza staff and Adult Medicine personnel.
  • Assisting the Shotwell Clinic Manager in ensuring efficient service delivery with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Serving as a backup Medical Assistant in the HIV Clinic.

Key Functions:

Administrative Duties:

  • Coordinate the scheduling of clinical staff with relevant management.
  • Oversee clinic flow to enhance team productivity and ensure a positive experience for both staff and patients.
  • Generate and monitor productivity reports and access data regularly.
  • Assist in supervising front desk staff and Medical Assistants.
  • Ensure adequate staff coverage in reception areas in collaboration with management.
  • Address health insurance and payment inquiries for patients, directing them to appropriate departments as needed.
  • Handle informal patient complaints and assist in implementing service recovery plans.
  • Monitor clinic equipment and facilities, reporting necessary repairs and ordering new equipment as required.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives in coordination with clinical leadership.

Front Office and Back Office Responsibilities:

  • Provide backup support to front desk operations as needed.
  • Assist in back office tasks, including taking vital signs and documenting patient history in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Prepare and administer point-of-care tests.
  • Set up examination rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure proper sterilization of equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree; an Associate's degree combined with relevant experience may be considered.
  • MA Certification is required.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is essential.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a clinical setting; experience in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in data management.
  • Reception experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in diverse settings.
  • Awareness and sensitivity towards issues related to HIV/AIDS, LGBTQIA, homelessness, immigration, mental health, and substance use.
