Senior Cost Controller

The Senior Cost Controller provides cost accounting and financial support to Plant Manager and Staff in Manufacturing Facilities. This includes responsibility for P&L and Balance Sheet accuracy at domestic band manufacturing and distribution warehouses. Specifically, labor and overhead variance analysis, expense analysis, BOM/Routing accuracy analysis, cycle counting analysis, and inventory transaction analysis to ensure accuracy of all reporting. Assist with other monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting tasks as assigned by finance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Month End Journal Entries and Accruals for Manufacturing Plants.
  • Responsible for creating entries and ensuring resulting information is correct.
  • Accuracy of Periodic Metrics and KPIs related to plant performance, including all data presented in periodic plant report-outs to corporate.
  • Cost rolls for new purchased products and existing products. (Including Annual Standard Revaluation).
  • Accuracy of all Costs - Raw, WIP and FG.
  • Assist with BOM and Routing updates as needed for manufactured and imported product.
  • Responsible for Annual Budget and Period Forecasts.
  • Work with Engineering and Materials to develop accurate product structures facilitating Labor Reporting and Material Consumption as appropriate to support effective and efficient reporting.
  • Active Role to ensure all plant activities are properly reflected in monthly financial statements.
  • Cycle Count Variance Root Cause, Warehouse CC Audits with tracking of the quarterly audit results.
  • Physical Inventory Process and Analysis.
  • Perpetual to GL reconciliations each period.
  • Material, Labor and Overhead Variance Analysis.
  • Cycle Count audits and trend tracking of the quarterly audit results at Distribution Warehouse.
  • Communicate with all co-workers and company Stakeholders in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Respond to local and corporate management as assigned with accurate and timely work.
  • Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
  • Responsible for Inventory Reserve Methodology and Calculation.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in accounting or related field.
  • Eight to Ten years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office Tools.
  • ERP Implementation Experience Preferred.
  • MAPICS/Infor/AS400 and/or Dynamics 365 experience, though not required, is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills - Ability to understand, analyze and communicate complex information to recipients with various levels of understanding.
  • Problem Solving Skills - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.

  • Requires long periods of sedentary work.
  • Requires repetitive upper movement - keyboarding and monitor use.
  • Requires walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day.
  • Hearing and visual acuity necessary.
  • Requires exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, and mandatory hearing protection.
