Job Title: Senior Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at Creative Financial Staffing. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing and analyzing the financial operations of our manufacturing company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Accounting:
    • Analyze and monitor production costs, labor costs, and material costs.
    • Prepare and review cost accounting reports, including variance analysis and cost allocations.
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of standard cost systems.
    • Work with operations to understand and analyze cost drivers and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Oversee the accounting and reconciliation of inventory, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
    • Conduct periodic inventory counts and ensure accurate reporting of inventory levels.
    • Analyze inventory variances and work with production teams to resolve discrepancies.
    • Monitor inventory aging and obsolescence, and assist in the preparation of inventory reserves.
  • Month-End Close:
    • Lead and manage month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
    • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and other adjustments.
    • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and manufacturing overhead.
    • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports for review by senior leadership.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting:
    • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to production and inventory.
    • Provide financial analysis to support decision-making, including margin analysis, break-even analysis, and profitability assessments.
    • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as requested by management.
  • Compliance & Internal Controls:
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls related to inventory and cost accounting processes.
    • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve data accuracy.
Requirements:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
    • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a manufacturing environment.
    • Strong experience in cost accounting and inventory management.
    • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Work Environment:
  • Work primarily in an office setting within a manufacturing facility.
  • Occasional visits to production areas to observe processes and conduct inventory counts.
  • Some remote work may be possible depending on company policies but role is primarily on-site.

Compensation: $75,000-$95,000 depending on experience.
