Job Summary

The Plant Utility Technician is responsible for maintaining, developing, and creating dependable equipment throughout our facility. This includes implementing continuous improvements, supporting new system installations, production strategies, and plant reliability. The ideal candidate will be capable of analyzing conditions, technical troubleshooting, and resolving mechanical and electrical issues that prevent meeting shift or weekly schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and in a clear format.
  • Attend and participate in required training.
  • Perform predictive maintenance techniques to enhance uptime conditions.
  • Train operators on maintenance techniques when called to troubleshoot or repair equipment.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and other reliability tasks, assist in diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds of machines.
  • Operate and maintain steam and boiler systems, including feed water treatment, combustion, and controls.
  • Maintain and operate ammonia systems while adhering to PSM standards.
  • Electrical controls and electrical diagram proficiency is required.
  • Maintain and operate compressed air systems.
  • Utilize root cause analysis to ensure sustainability of corrective actions and improvements.
  • Effectively complete PMs as scheduled to eliminate unplanned downtime.
  • Proficiently use CMMS systems to track maintenance action items.
  • Classify breakdowns and analyze gaps in the entire process of design, fabrication, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement methodology events.
  • Follow QMS, Good Manufacturing Practices, and 5S methodology to maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
  • Adhere to all Pillar Standards and participate in Pillar activities.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and support plant production needs and priorities.
  • Facilitate team meetings and programs.
  • Assist, train, and coach employees.
  • Comply with all regulations, policies, and procedures.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual with a strong background in manufacturing and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Certification to operate lifts and other required equipment.
  • Successfully completed boiler 1 training.
  • Successfully completed and maintained, at a minimum, a RETA CARO certification.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of and commitment to established values and strategy. They will also have good oral and written communication skills, basic math skills, and the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.

Working Conditions

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with potential hazards including proximity of moving machinery, chemical exposure, noise, or heavy lifting. The position requires standing, stooping, moving equipment, bending, reaching, or lifting for prolonged periods of time. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) includes safety glasses, hearing protection, and required footwear.
