Senior Tactical Systems Specialist - with Security+ Certification and a minimum of 7 years of TACLAN and operational experience.

Role Overview: As the Senior Tactical Systems Specialist, the individual serves as a central communication point for all site leads within their designated area, ensuring effective information flow to the program manager and Contracting Officer Representative (COR). This role encompasses the responsibilities of a Mid-level IT Support Engineer while also independently managing the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of VMware server virtualization products. Additionally, the specialist will configure IT assets in compliance with Federal Information Processing standards, including DISA STIGs and NSA SNACs, and oversee the configuration and maintenance of networking devices, primarily routers, switches, and firewalls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the DoD approved Information Assurance tool ACAS Security Center to evaluate the vulnerability status of both networked and non-networked assets, providing detailed reporting and risk assessments as necessary.
  • Installs, tests, and provides support for Microsoft Windows and Android-based systems.
  • Designs, constructs, presents, and deploys Tactical Land Area Network (TACLAN) Images, while also managing inventory, tracking, and resolving usability and configuration challenges associated with new TACLAN Images.
  • Conducts scans, remediates issues, rescans, and reports to the relevant authority regarding the status of Category I vulnerabilities to support the accreditation of new TACLAN Images, including downloading, installing, and verifying Microsoft Updates.
  • Generates essential documentation required to obtain an Interim Authority to Operate (IATO), builds small test networks for Network Security Vulnerability scanning, troubleshoots client/server and network issues, and performs testing, quality assurance, and drafting of test plans for functional testing and accreditation.
  • Drafts Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents and accreditation documentation, and conducts peer reviews of documents prepared by colleagues.
  • Escalates unresolved issues to senior management for further action.
  • Performs additional tasks as directed by OSC Edge and the Government contracting office.

Required Qualifications/Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; OR a Technical School Certificate related to computer systems; OR equivalent technical training with experience directly aligned to the duties to be performed in lieu of a degree for specific user units.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 or higher certification (e.g., Security +).
  • Must possess and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Unified Command structure, joint doctrine, and joint policies.
  • Extensive working knowledge of processes and procedures for utilizing automated tools to plan, support, and execute Special Operations roles for mission planning.
  • Ability to develop processes and techniques that enhance the mission planning environment and reduce the workload for other mission planning support contractors.
  • A minimum of 7 years of operational experience with or supporting an organization's navigation and mission planning techniques, including preparation and review of flight plans for aircraft weapon systems or mission planning computer systems, communications, mission equipment, and planning techniques, including preparation of unit mission plans for both peacetime and wartime special operations missions.
