Position Summary

Castalia Systems is seeking a Senior Support Engineer to engage in a vital role supporting the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), specifically within the Program Executive Office for Special Operations Forces Digital Applications (PEO SDA). The primary objective of the PEO is to provide innovative, relevant, and reliable software and data capabilities tailored for the Special Operations Forces (SOF) personnel to attain information superiority and succeed in complex scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will undertake the following tasks, among others:

  • Provide operational support requiring expertise in SOCOM and Joint Staff operations, including targeting cycles and Tactical Data Links.
  • Possess knowledge of and facilitate training on all SOCOM and Joint Staff programs related to Common Operational Picture (COP) management, Operational Area of Interest (OAI) management, and Commander Critical Information Requirements (CCIR) management.
  • Collaborate with assigned units to identify specific operational needs and communicate capability gaps to SOCOM regarding software and technology at the unit level.
  • Coordinate and synchronize efforts with relevant Geographic Combatant Commands (GCC) and Joint Task Forces, demonstrating a solid understanding of Task Organization in relation to Command and Control (C2) dynamics.
  • Participate in Area of Responsibility (AoR) level working groups focused on Mission Command and C2 initiatives, including COP Working Groups, Joint Fires Working Group, and Tactical Data Link (TADL) Working Groups.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Extensive understanding of the Unified Command structure, joint doctrine, and associated policies.
  • Proficient in utilizing automated tools for planning, supporting, and executing Special Operations roles in mission planning.
  • Ability to develop processes and techniques that enhance the mission planning environment while reducing the workload for other mission planning support personnel.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a technical support role within Operational or Intelligence Community (IC) operations, platforms, functions, and terminology.
  • At least 8 years of experience in implementing and training on software systems/updates, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation.
