The Opportunity

Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking a highly skilled System Safety Engineer to join our team. As a System Safety Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting senior-level DoD and Service personnel with system safety implementation and oversight for DoD threat system programs.

You will leverage your specialized knowledge and expertise in system safety to identify and assess threat system safety hazards and inform the implementation of mitigations to reduce warfighter risk. Your responsibilities will include conducting system safety hazard analyses, risk assessment for identified hazards, use of hazard tracking systems, preparation of system safety risk acceptance documents, and presentation to DoD system safety review boards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement MIL-STD-882 system safety programs for weapons, platforms, launch control systems, electronics, and mechanical equipment
  • Conduct system safety hazard analyses, risk assessment for identified hazards, use of hazard tracking systems, preparation of system safety risk acceptance documents, and presentation to DoD system safety review boards
  • Analyze, research, assess, and organize technical data into cohesive and clear technical reports and presentations
  • Organize, schedule, and facilitate technical meetings and working groups
  • Hold a Secret clearance
  • Hold a HS diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with NAVSEAINST 8020.6, Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB), or Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP)
  • Experience with Digital Engineering, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Software Development, Solid-state Electrical Circuit Design, Unmanned Systems Design, Human Factors Engineering, or Fault Tree Analysis
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Navy Principal for Safety (PFS), or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
Clearance

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen Hamilton is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137, annualized USD.
