Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled System Safety Engineer, Mid to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing system safety programs for DoD threat system programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply scientific and engineering principles, criteria, and techniques to identify and assess threat system safety hazards and inform the implementation of mitigations to reduce warfighter risk.
  • Leverage your specialized knowledge and expertise in system safety to develop and implement comprehensive system safety programs or individual tasks on a variety of systems, including unmanned systems, ground-based missile systems, surface vessel threat and support systems, or laser systems.
  • Analyze data, develop written deliverables, assist with the presentation of results, and assist with the review of client system safety artifacts to verify compliance with requirements, policy, and guidance documents.
  • Conduct tasks following established plans and quality standards and the freedom to improve processes and advance the discipline of system safety.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience with Engineering, EOD and Ordnance Operations, System Test and Evaluation, Safety Programs, Directed Energy System Design, or Electromagnetic Emission Effects and Susceptibility
  • 2+ years of experience with implementing MIL-STD-882 system safety programs for weapons, platforms, launch control systems, electronics, and mechanical equipment
  • Experience with conducting system safety hazard analyses, risk assessment for identified hazards, use of hazard tracking systems, preparation of system safety risk acceptance documents, and presentation to DoD system safety review boards
  • Ability to analyze, research, assess, and organize technical data into cohesive and clear technical reports and presentations
  • Ability to organize, schedule, and facilitate technical meetings and working groups
  • Secret clearance
  • HS diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with NAVSEAINST 8020.6, Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB), or Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP)
  • Experience with Digital Engineering, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Software Development, Solid-state Electrical Circuit Design, Unmanned Systems Design, Human Factors Engineering, or Fault Tree Analysis
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Navy Principal for Safety (PFS), or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
Clearance
