Description

Become an integral part of the dedicated Production team at Salvation Army. Together, we can continue to serve and positively impact our local community. We are seeking motivated individuals with driving experience for local pickup and delivery tasks. Qualified drivers must demonstrate the ability to drive safely and efficiently, follow directions, and interact positively with customers. Responsibilities include loading and unloading materials in a safe and competent manner while contributing to the success of our Adult Rehabilitation Program.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Adhere to daily routing instructions and avoid deviations unless directed by the Transportation Supervisor or their designee.
  2. Manage time effectively to ensure the completion of routes within the approved work schedule.
  3. Ensure the safe loading and unloading of the assigned vehicle and assist with other trucks as needed.
  4. Handle all donated materials following safe handling procedures and utilize assigned personal protective equipment.
  5. Train and supervise truck helpers, fostering good personal and professional work habits through example and instruction.
  6. Complete all pre and post vehicle checks daily, reporting any issues to the Transportation Supervisor.
  7. Provide excellent customer service as a representative of The Salvation Army, addressing any donor concerns promptly.
  8. Report all accidents or incidents involving the vehicle, personal injury, or property damage to the immediate supervisor.
  9. Comply with all DOT regulations and local laws while maintaining a safe driving record.
  10. Attend all required driver safety meetings and report any safety procedure violations.
  11. Follow state law and company policy regarding meal and rest breaks.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor or designated representatives.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Strong time management and customer service skills.
  • Ability to operate electronic equipment for daily route information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, carts, and other equipment.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.
