Lead Environmental Services Coordinator

Employment Type: Full Time; FTE 1.0

Shift: 2nd Shift; 2:45pm - 11:15pm

Location: Rock Island, IL

The Lead Environmental Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing a variety of cleaning operations that may involve handling hazardous materials, performing heavy lifting, and interacting with patients. This role includes the daily sanitation of patient rooms, as well as cleaning precautionary areas, and managing special setups as requested by the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delegate tasks to team members and evaluate completed work to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Address employee concerns or escalate issues to the Environmental Services Manager or Human Resources as necessary.
  • Utilize computer software, including Microsoft Excel and Word, to perform job functions effectively.
  • Be available for additional shifts, including overtime and weekends, as required.
  • Maintain familiarity with all roles within the department to ensure adherence to schedules.
  • Assess team members' strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Monitor employee breaks and lunch periods to ensure compliance with time regulations.
  • Analyze production schedules and estimate the time needed for task completion.
  • Interpret company policies for staff and enforce safety protocols.
  • Translate work orders for team members and assign tasks accordingly.
  • Propose initiatives to motivate staff towards achieving departmental goals.

Education:

Experience:

Prior supervisory experience in Environmental Services or equivalent training is preferred.

Customer service experience is advantageous but not required.

Licenses/Certifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient understanding of Environmental Services and janitorial responsibilities. Capable of adapting to new tasks within the Patient Support Services Department. Must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility when interacting with guests and colleagues. Proficiency in reading and writing English is essential. Familiarity with personnel records, inspection documentation, regulatory compliance, purchase orders, work schedules, and computer systems is required. A leader who guides and supports the Environmental Services team.

Ability to communicate effectively in English to ensure safe chemical usage and customer interaction. Competence in operating hospital computer systems and using ladders is necessary.
