Position Overview

The selected candidate will execute a comprehensive range of first-level supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure ongoing adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Delegate tasks based on mission requirements and the skills and developmental needs of team members.
  • Prepare and deliver both oral and written reports regarding organizational, programmatic, and project statuses, including critical issues and resource needs.
  • Oversee the successful execution of complex, mission-critical armament programs and initiatives that significantly influence national defense capabilities.
Employment Conditions

Appointment may be contingent upon a suitability or fitness determination following a background investigation.

The candidate must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Secret security clearance.

A three-year trial or probationary period may be necessary.

This role may involve Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel up to 25% of the time.

This position is part of the Army Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Workforce.

The selected individual must fulfill position requirements for Engineering and Technical Management Practitioner Certification within 60 months of starting the role.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: Only applicants meeting one of the specified employment authority categories are eligible for this position.

Applicants will need to identify the category or categories they meet and provide documentation to verify their eligibility.

Basic Requirement for General Engineering:

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering from an accredited institution.

The program must either:

  1. Lead to a degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or
  2. Include advanced coursework in calculus and five of the following seven areas: statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical circuits, and properties of materials.
Combination of Education and Experience:

Applicants may also qualify through a combination of education and experience that demonstrates a thorough understanding of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering.

Specialized Experience:

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12/13 level in federal service, which includes:

  • Managing interdisciplinary teams focused on developing Systems Engineering competencies.
  • Broad knowledge of Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) processes.
  • Experience in monitoring organizational performance and justifying staffing and resource changes.
Evaluation Criteria

Applicants will be assessed based on their competencies in leadership, oral communication, planning and evaluation, and technical expertise.

Education completed in foreign institutions must be evaluated for equivalency to U.S. accredited programs.

Additional Information

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

Direct deposit of pay is mandatory.

This is a position within the Engineering Career Field.

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.

Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized.
