About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Axelon. As an MRI Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality imaging procedures are performed for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI Imaging Procedures: Operate and prepare specialized equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures, ensuring the highest level of diagnostic quality.
  • Assist Patients: Prepare and position patients as required to perform MRI procedures, providing a safe and comfortable experience.
  • Apply Technical Judgment: Use technical expertise to obtain studies of an acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patient needs.
  • Provide Patient Education: Inform patients of the nature of the procedure, the area to be imaged, and any specific instructions they may need.
  • Review Patient Safety Questionnaires: Follow MRI safety precautions prior to scanning patients, ensuring a safe environment.
  • Ensure Patient Clearance: Verify patients are cleared before transitioning from one zone to another.
  • Assist in Administering Opaque Media: Load power injectors under aseptic technique, as required.
  • Position Patients and Coils: Optimize study quality by positioning patients and associated coils correctly.
  • Scan Patient-Related Documents: Ensure all necessary documents are scanned and up-to-date.
  • Label Images Appropriately: Ensure all images are labeled as specified by department SOP.
  • Assist Physicians Directly: Provide support to physicians as required, ensuring seamless patient care.
  • Evaluate Radiographs: Assess radiographs for technical acceptability and transmit images to PACS in a timely manner.
  • Maintain Radiology Room Cleanliness: Ensure the radiology room and equipment are clean and well-maintained, including removal of soiled or dirty linen.
  • Manage Supplies and Accessories: Maintain necessary supplies and accessories in the imaging room.
  • Accurately Record Patient Information: Record all required patient tracking information into IDX (Radiology Information System).
  • Schedule Exams: Schedule exams into IDX (Radiology Information System) as required.
  • Inform Supervisors of Equipment Repairs: Notify supervisors or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions.
  • Prevent Infection Spread: Adhere to infection control policies and protocols to prevent the spread of infection.
  • Attend Professional Development Meetings: Participate in in-services and other professional development meetings as required.
  • Maintain Licensure: Maintain licensure specific to the job, including adherence to Article 35 of the Public Health Code.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Licensure: New York State License (L.R.T.) and NY State IV Certification.
  • Certification: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (MRI certified) and BLS certification.
