MRI Safety Specialist

OVERVIEW
As an MRI Safety Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a secure environment for MRI imaging.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

In this position, you will:

  • Prepare patients of all ages for MRI imaging procedures.
  • Operate MRI equipment and software to generate diagnostic images.
  • Review physician orders to identify the appropriate scanning protocols.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients regarding the imaging process.
  • Administer IV contrast agents for enhanced imaging, under the supervision of a Radiologist.
  • Ensure adherence to established MRI safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Regularly evaluate and update MR safety policies to ensure compliance among staff.
  • Facilitate MR safety training and education for all personnel.
  • Stay informed about the latest MR safety alerts and disseminate this information to the team.
  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of MR-safe and MR-compatible equipment, ensuring all usage restrictions are followed.
  • Screen all individuals entering the MRI area for potential magnetic hazards.

REPORTING STRUCTURE
Refer to the organizational chart for reporting lines.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • An Associate of Science degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
  • Registration with the ARRT, with advanced MRI certification preferred.
  • A solid understanding of MRI safety standards and protocols.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in MRI applications.
  • If not already registered in MRI, the candidate must plan to take the MRI registry exam within one year of employment.
