Job Overview:

As a Community Association Manager at FirstService Residential, you will provide strategic leadership and management direction on behalf of the Board of Directors. You will serve as a liaison to the community, enhance communication, enforce legal compliance, and oversee operations of the association and staff management.

This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in community association management, who is passionate about delivering exceptional service and results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Community Leadership: Develop recommendations for community goals and lead action plans to achieve Board objectives.
  • Community Liaison: Provide community leadership and guidance to ensure that the needs or desires of the homeowners are being addressed.
  • Financial Management: In partnership with the Board, create and implement the annual working budget. On a monthly basis, monitor and report on the financial position of the association.
  • Risk Management: Ensure due diligence for the protection of client's funds, property, and assets against all reasonably foreseeable contingencies or losses.
  • Meeting Support: Provide leadership to each meeting involving the Board of Directors in terms of agenda support and written and oral reports. Summarize the priorities of each meeting with appropriate follow up.
  • Service Excellence: Maintain a level of service excellence in all interactions with residents, vendors, staff, and colleagues with knowledge and enforcement of the Community Governing Documents.
  • Community Needs Assessment: Assess and monitor community needs: identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures and developing new programs. Select and collaborate with external vendor partners to implement programs or improvements.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, hire, train, and supervise all community staff in accordance with the documented management plan. Evaluate and make recommendations for efficient and effective support of the community.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Work closely with local emergency organizations to maintain established emergency and community evacuation plans as appropriate.
  • Building Inspection: Perform building inspection of interior and exterior of property. Maintain on-site visibility throughout common areas and facilities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: In accordance with the Illinois Condo Act and FirstService Residential policies, comply with all codes and regulatory requirements for the property, including assessing and correcting any violations received by various regulatory agencies.
Requirements:
  • Active Community Association Manager License: Active Community Association Manager license in the state of Illinois.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of physical building management, Condominium law, financial planning, and law affecting property management.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Works effectively with coworkers, clients, customers, and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; addresses problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions.
  • Budgetary Knowledge: Possess budgetary knowledge and control for the purpose(s) of executing programs within the community as well as related activities that may be cost-shared for the benefit of the community.
  • Energy and Multitasking: Must possess a high energy attitude and an ability to multi-task/prioritize different projects at any given time.
  • Communication Skills: Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience: Community management experience or equivalent professional experience in a related field strongly preferred.
