Position Overview:

The Lead Project Engineer will oversee and manage various infrastructure projects, including roadway, bridge, and utility developments as part of the Capital Improvement Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to Project Engineers, Project Managers, and other technical staff throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies, utility companies, and internal departments to ensure compliance and effective project execution.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of site plans, construction documents, and environmental assessments to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Facilitate meetings related to planning, design, and construction to promote collaboration and progress.
  • Monitor project timelines and budgets, ensuring projects remain on track and within financial constraints.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage change orders to adapt to project needs.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and updates to stakeholders, including the Board of County Commissioners.
  • Perform inspections and oversee project closeout processes to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of six years of relevant experience in civil engineering project management.

Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
  • Proficiency in project management software and engineering design tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and provide strategic recommendations.

Licenses:

Must hold a valid Florida Driver's License and be a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.

Work Environment:

This role involves both office and fieldwork, requiring interaction with various stakeholders and frequent visits to construction sites.
