Position Overview

The Field Services Technician plays a crucial role in delivering technical support to clients and their contractors, facilitating the setup, installation, and mechanical operation of new CPM equipment in various locations. This position also encompasses Inspection Services, Preventative Maintenance Planning, and Shutdown planning tailored for our clientele. Additionally, the Field Services Technician collaborates with the Quality Control team to inspect fabricated equipment both in the workshop and on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients and contractors in the assembly and installation of new CPM processing equipment, providing essential technical guidance and training for the mechanical and operational aspects.
  • Conduct Inspection Services, formulate Preventative Maintenance Plans, and strategize Shutdown procedures for our customers.
  • Support various segments of Field Services, including Process Optimization, Training, and Automation.
  • Perform inspections of fabricated equipment as part of the global quality assurance initiative, coordinating with the Quality Assurance Director and other stakeholders to address any issues and prepare detailed inspection reports.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that fabricators adhere to quality standards, drawings, and regulatory requirements, promoting consistency across suppliers.
  • Engage with the purchasing department to assess locally fabricated equipment and components, documenting any concerns and generating supplier inspection reports.
  • Track fabrication schedules and communicate progress updates between fabricators and project management teams.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols established by CPM and OSHA, while following the safety programs of clients and contractors on-site.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Mechanical or Process Manager within the Field Service team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a technical institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of mechanical experience in equipment fabrication, installation, or commissioning.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: Millwright work, Welding, Inspection, Rigging, Field Repair, or Oilseeds Plant Operations.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics is essential.
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance customer value and drive operational excellence.
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and the ability to work collaboratively across different regions and functions.
  • Capable of training and mentoring others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional European or Asian languages is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.

Working Conditions

  • Approximately 50% of the time will be spent in an office environment, with the remaining 50% in a plant setting.
  • Office conditions are standard for a corporate environment.
  • Plant and fabrication environments may involve exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise, as well as potential work at heights and in confined spaces.
