Job Description:

Overview:

The Executive Director of Aviation Operations will oversee all aspects of the FBO, including customer relations, line operations, accounting, health, safety, and environmental functions. This individual will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities for the sale and provision of general aviation support services, such as fuel, hangar, and office rental, and will have profit and loss responsibility for a base location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Analysis: Develop an understanding of the market for the FBO, including sales and growth opportunities, and conduct ongoing analysis of competition to include selling points, product offerings, and pricing.
  • Local Competitiveness: Remain locally competitive by maintaining close contact with market conditions and adapting strategies accordingly.
  • Customer Relationships: Create new opportunities by developing relationships with customers, tenants, the airport authority, local government, and the local community.
  • Safety and Quality Control: Establish a culture that promotes safety and quality control through daily observations, shift briefings, routine audits, monthly safety meetings, training, and documented safety procedures.
  • Emergency Procedures: Formulate and abide by procedures for use in the event of aircraft accidents, fires, or other emergencies.
  • Culture and Engagement: Establish a culture that promotes customer loyalty by creating an environment of increased employee engagement and regularly interacting with customers and tenants to promote the FBO and the level of customer satisfaction.
  • Customer Feedback: Receive and use customer feedback to constantly develop and improve capabilities and processes.
  • Operations Management: Manage operations, including ensuring proper staffing levels are maintained based on daily, weekly, and monthly volumes.
  • Business Planning: Develop new business plans with capital requirements and anticipated performance.
  • Financial Management: Prepare the FBO budget with insight for the capability of and opportunities for the FBO and be responsible for financial management of the base, including capital expenditures, forecasting, budgeting, audit performance, and expense management.
  • Leadership and Development: Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, perform leadership functions such as conducting annual reviews, making hiring decisions, and managing performance of direct reports, which includes mentoring and skill development.
  • Employee Development: Ensure employees receive company communications and necessary training, including safety, customer service standards, company values, etc.
  • Community Relations: Develop and maintain good relations with the Airport and local government authorities, the local community, tenants, and customers.
  • Sales and Marketing: Responsible for developing and promoting sales and marketing initiatives for the FBO and real-estate operations.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Aviation Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Eight to ten years related experience and/or training, with at least three years related general aviation management experience.
  • Leadership and Management: Excellent leadership and people management skills, ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced operational environment, knowledge of operational corporate policies and procedures, analytical thinking, goal-directed leadership, and service-oriented performance.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communicational skills, balanced with a high level of confidence to influence and present at all levels.
  • Language and Technology: Must be able to read, write, and understand the English Language, bi-lingual ability preferred, but not required, and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and web-based applications.
  • Security and Background Check: Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to pass an airport security background check.
