This position will provide strategic direction and oversight for the cataloging and metadata management of electronic collections, ensuring seamless access and discovery for the UC community.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management: Provide strategic direction and oversight for the SCP, ensuring alignment with the Library's goals and objectives.
- Metadata Expertise: Develop and implement metadata strategies to support the discovery of electronic collections, leveraging expertise in RDA, LCSH, LC Classification, and MARC-21 formats.
- Collaboration and Communication: Foster strong relationships with the CDL E-Resource Team, SCP catalogers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Staff Supervision and Development: Supervise and train SCP metadata staff and students, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Technical Expertise: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in metadata management, ensuring the SCP remains at the forefront of best practices.
- MLS/MLIS or Equivalent: Advanced degree in Library Science or related field.
- Metadata Experience: Proven expertise in cataloging and metadata management, with a strong understanding of RDA, LCSH, LC Classification, and MARC-21 formats.
- Leadership and Management: Demonstrated experience in leading teams and managing projects, with a focus on collaboration and communication.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Alma, Primo, and other library systems, as well as experience with metadata management tools and technologies.
