The City and Borough of Juneau's Parks & Recreation Department is seeking to hire
As an Aquatic Safety Officer at Dimond Park Aquatic Center, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all guests utilizing the facility. Your responsibilities will include monitoring swimmers, enforcing safety regulations, responding to emergencies, providing first aid, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.

Work Schedule and Location
This role will primarily be based at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center, with potential assignments at the Augustus Brown Swimming Pool. Our facilities operate seven days a week, with hours from early morning until evening. We are currently looking to fill two part-time positions and one full-time position, with various shift options available.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary duty will be to vigilantly monitor swimmers and intervene in situations that may jeopardize their safety. This includes observing guests, enforcing safety rules, and providing assistance to those in need. You may spend extended periods on the pool deck during your shifts.
Additional responsibilities will involve maintaining the cleanliness of the facility, ensuring it is free from debris, and assisting with snow removal during winter months. You will also oversee the safe operation of aquatic attractions and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
Certification as an American Red Cross Lifeguard or equivalent
AND First Aid and CPR certifications
Age Requirement
Applicants must be at least 15 years old and eligible for a General Duties Work Permit if under 17.
Note: Some positions may require additional certifications such as WSI (Water Safety Instructor) or specialized training in diving or kayaking.

Special Notice
The sign-on bonus will be distributed in two installments, subject to mandatory deductions. Eligibility for the first installment begins upon hire, with the second installment contingent upon successful completion of the probationary period.
