Key Responsibilities- Community Liaison: Establish and maintain relationships with local agencies, organizations, and schools to provide workshops and coordinate activities.
- Outreach Services: Provide counseling, feeding, referral, and transportation services to youths in crisis, including driving the Outreach van to designated areas.
- Data Entry: Accurately record and report data in the HMIS reporting system.
- Team Collaboration: Work independently and maintain open communication with the Outreach Coordinator to ensure seamless operations.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure the Outreach van is in good working condition and prepared for daily activities.
- Training and Development: Assist in providing training for staff, volunteers, and ensure staff receives all agency-required training.
- Scheduling: Maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate outreach activities and supervision.
- Travel: Travel to other locations as requested by the Outreach Coordinator to perform outreach activities.
- Workshop Development: Develop and present workshops throughout the community on homeless prevention.
- Networking: Attend community networking meetings of homeless and youth service providers.
- Supply Management: Order food and necessary supplies for Outreach and Community Services.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a human services field preferred.
- Experience: Two (2) years of experience working with runaway and homeless youth, with experience in street outreach preferred.
- Skills: Proven ability to provide supervision and training, flexibility, and ability to handle stressful situations.
- Physical Demands: Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various conditions, walk long distances, and lift heavy materials.
- Driver's License: Valid Texas Driver's License and driving record acceptable to the agency's insurance carrier.
Covenant House Texas is a leading provider of shelter and services for homeless, abused, and abandoned youth. Our comprehensive continuum of care model includes mental health and substance abuse counseling, educational and vocational training, transitional and permanent living programs, street outreach and prevention, pastoral ministry, and parenting classes. We provide the basic necessities of food, clothing, medical care, and safe shelter from the streets for youth in crisis.
