Position Overview

The Clinical Professional Development Educator serves as a pivotal resource in the healthcare setting, embodying the roles of educator, facilitator, leader, consultant, and researcher within their area of expertise. This role involves the design, execution, and assessment of orientation and ongoing education programs tailored for nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate learner profiles, including diverse learning styles and educational needs, to inform program design; foster an effective learning atmosphere; utilize technology proficiently; and assess the effectiveness of educational initiatives.
  • Act as both an instructor and facilitator, employing a variety of teaching methodologies that cater to the unique characteristics and cultural backgrounds of learners; develop nursing professional development programs that are inclusive and relevant across various demographics.
  • Maintain a strong clinical presence; comply with industry standards; advocate for nursing development programs that align with both learner and organizational needs; and proactively identify emerging trends in healthcare education.
  • Exhibit cultural, ethical, and spiritual sensitivity; engage in ethical decision-making processes; effectively manage group dynamics; and adhere to health reporting regulations.
  • Serve as a change agent and leader, implementing motivational strategies at various levels; uphold confidentiality of sensitive information; and utilize outcome measurements to evaluate educational effectiveness.
  • Encourage problem-solving skills; interpret and apply research findings in practice; demonstrate a thorough understanding of the research process; and exemplify evidence-based practice.
  • Align educational priorities with the organizational strategic plan; develop a financial framework for resource allocation; and creatively plan and implement educational programs and projects.
  • Design and execute evaluation strategies for educational initiatives; manage budgets for programs; take personal accountability for professional growth; and promote engagement in professional organizations.
  • Exhibit strong oral and written communication skills; utilize effective interpersonal techniques; encourage critical thinking; and connect nursing staff with relevant professional development resources.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary, recognizing that all responsibilities listed are essential functions of the role.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • A valid Registered Professional Nurse license in New York State is mandatory, along with any necessary specialized certifications.
  • A minimum of 4-7 years of relevant technical experience and up to 2 years of leadership or management experience is required.
