Role Summary

WSP is initiating a search for a Senior Geotechnical Engineering Leader. This role involves engaging with our Earth & Environment Team and contributing to a dynamic organization that addresses client objectives and resolves their challenges.

Your Contributions
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and geologists, fostering their professional growth.
  • Oversee the collection, compilation, and analysis of data from various sources including physical work sites, soil and water samples, surveys, and geotechnical data for project development and design.
  • Utilize advanced geotechnical engineering techniques to enhance various phases of infrastructure projects, including concept development and final design.
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations and inspections of site conditions, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Prepare construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates while coordinating with various stakeholders.
  • Manage the design and construction of infrastructure projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality and adherence to safety standards.
  • Implement advanced technologies and strategies to enhance safety and functionality in geotechnical engineering projects.
  • Lead large-scale geotechnical projects, ensuring effective communication and performance management among team members.
  • Review engineering designs and permit applications to ensure compliance with regulations and sound engineering practices.
  • Engage with public and private entities to address engineering and construction challenges.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations that effectively communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Develop a client base for high-level geotechnical services and identify business development opportunities.
  • Stay updated on the latest geotechnical engineering practices and techniques.
  • Collaborate with professionals across various disciplines on funded improvement and development projects.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications

Essential
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering and geotechnical design.
  • Professional Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
  • Expertise in geotechnical engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience in infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
  • Strong knowledge of construction laws, codes, and compliance practices.
  • Proficient in technical computations and engineering principles.
  • Experience in conducting inspections and investigations related to construction and design.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities and self-management skills.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and design software.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractors and ensure task completion.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health policies.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various schedules and project needs.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project needs.
Preferred
  • Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training is a plus.
