Position: HVAC/R Service Specialist

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct repairs and preventative maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, including chilled water systems and cooling towers.
  • Diagnose, repair, or replace various types of pumps and refrigeration/AC equipment, as well as pneumatic and electric valves, according to technical specifications.
  • Service electrical motors associated with HVAC/R systems, handling voltages up to 480 volts – 3 phase.
  • Install and adjust HVAC/R components such as valves, thermostats, and pressure regulators, ensuring proper electrical connections.
  • Test pipe or tubing joints for leaks using appropriate methods.
  • Address client concerns regarding temperature discrepancies, making necessary adjustments to achieve optimal conditions.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations.
  • Repair walk-in coolers and freezers to maintain safe operational temperatures.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of service activities.
  • Utilize and care for assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Adhere to all relevant standards, policies, and safety procedures.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • Read and interpret technical documents, including safety rules and maintenance instructions.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including components and materials.
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment used for inspection, testing, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Awareness of safe work practices.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Skills:

  • Ability to install, inspect, and troubleshoot HVAC/R systems.
  • Capability to diagnose and resolve complex issues in refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  • Proficient in operating tools and equipment for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Ability to interpret technical plans and specifications.
  • Competence in using required software applications.
  • Maintain precise records of work performed.
  • Follow both written and verbal instructions effectively.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Deliver excellent customer service.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems, including experience with electronic and pneumatic controls.

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Current EPA Section 608 Universal certification.
