Job Overview
This role entails a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:

Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the creation of deliverables and outputs such as presentation materials, calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and cost estimates associated with structural systems for commercial and governmental projects.
2. Ensure the delivery of comprehensive, precise, and coordinated project design assignments within established timeframes and budget constraints while fulfilling client contractual obligations.
3. Conduct field investigations to integrate existing conditions into construction documentation.
4. Execute construction administration tasks, including shop drawing reviews, responding to RFIs, conducting construction inspections, and addressing client inquiries.
5. Collaborate within a project team environment, maintaining and organizing all project-related documentation.
6. Coordinate efforts with other project disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.
7. Plan and structure work following a defined process, demonstrating the ability to work independently and make informed technical decisions based on building code interpretations as well as company, client, and industry standards.
8. Assist the department in developing standards and staying updated on current codes and practices.
9. Perform quality assurance and quality control checks on structural design documents produced by fellow engineers.
10. Lead a team of engineers and BIM technicians focused on structural and multi-discipline projects.
11. Mentor junior structural engineers and support their professional development.
12. Serve as a senior technical resource and advisor for the team.
13. Provide specialized technical input to studies and designs within the staff's area of expertise.
14. Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective work by others.
15. Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
16. Prepare construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates for projects.
17. Utilize expertise in all phases of completing discipline components of PS&E packages.
18. Conduct quality control reviews of design calculations or drawings.
19. Prepare technical specification sections.
20. Contribute to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements.

Qualifications:
- Experience with Antiterrorism/Force Protection and Blast Resistant structural design.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience with an engineering firm specializing in structural systems for commercial and institutional facilities.
- Proficiency in interpreting and applying national and local building codes.
- Strong skills in using computers for engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing.
- Excellent written communication, presentation, and client interaction skills.
- Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks with minimal supervision while proactively developing standard practices and innovative techniques.
- A Master of Science degree in structural engineering or civil engineering with a structural emphasis.
- A BA/BS degree plus 6 years of related experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- A valid Professional Engineer license recognized by a state licensing board.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
- Familiarity with Revit.
