Position Overview:

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is on the lookout for a Senior Structural / Bridge Engineer with over 12 years of pertinent experience in the analysis and design of both new and rehabilitated structures. This role is essential to our structural engineering division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assume a leading technical role in bridge and structural design projects.
  • Plan, direct, and oversee all facets of mid-to-large multi-discipline projects or medium-sized bridge projects that possess a high level of technical complexity.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships while participating in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
  • Conduct schematic, design development, and contractual document work sessions alongside Project Managers and other technical professionals.
  • Ensure that project deliverables and supporting documentation are thorough, comprehensible, and adhere to applicable standards.
  • Coordinate staffing and workload throughout the project lifecycle to ensure timely completion of documents.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures and conduct reviews of bridge plans for various projects.
  • Facilitate training and development for personnel, acting as a mentor for less experienced Project Managers.
  • Maintain professional engineering registration.
Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution. A Master's degree in Structural Engineering is preferred. Candidates must have Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or the ability to obtain it through reciprocity within six months of hire. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of project and client management experience is required, along with proficiency in MS Office.

Desired Skills:

Strong communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring abilities are essential. Candidates should be capable of interacting with various design teams and possess excellent organizational and project management skills. A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture is expected.

Physical Requirements:

This position is primarily office-based, requiring the ability to use standard office equipment. Some fieldwork may be necessary, which could involve navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment. Fieldwork may also expose employees to extreme weather conditions.
