Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

The Emergency Medical Technician plays a crucial role in delivering urgent medical assistance to patients in critical situations. This position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including registered nurses, physicians, and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of a physician, the EMT will ensure high standards of care by adhering to the established protocols set forth by the relevant medical authorities.
  • Administers basic and advanced life support interventions as directed by the attending physician.
  • Conducts patient assessments, triage, and educational interventions as necessary.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of patient care activities in compliance with hospital policies.
  • Fosters patient independence by building rapport and establishing care objectives; educates patients and their families about conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques.
  • Creates a supportive environment by offering emotional and psychological assistance to patients and their families.
  • Identifies oneself clearly as a licensed emergency medical technician while providing care.
  • Ensures the safety of patients and staff by following all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Actively seeks opportunities for professional development and skill enhancement.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a nationally or state-approved EMT training program.

Licensure and Certifications:
  • Valid EMT license.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from an accredited organization.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient in computer skills and applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capable of analyzing problems and identifying effective solutions.
  • Maintains confidentiality and safeguards sensitive information.
  • Adheres to safety standards and protocols at all times.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a high-volume emergency medical setting, with additional qualifications in critical care preferred.
