About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Markel's global team as an Associate Account Specialist - Underwriting Support. As a key member of our underwriting function, you will play a vital role in supporting our customers and ensuring the accuracy of underwriting documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Renewal Business Management: Manage renewal business under the supervision of an Underwriter and move to writing new business, preparing analysis of exposure and presenting to Underwriter for signoff.
  • Customer Service and Risk Assessment: Gather and review information on financial conditions, risk exposure, loss history, and economic trends that may impact the terms and conditions offered to the client.
  • Policy Analysis and Interpretation: Extract internal data and research external information to identify trends impacting product lines, provide basic forms/coverage interpretations, and advise on additional coverage needs.
  • Documentation and Accuracy: Ensure accurate underwriting documentation/information in account management systems and adherence to documentation standards.
  • Client Relationships: Establish, support, and maintain effective relationships with clients and build strong relationships with employees across the organization.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: College degree and/or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong computer skills in word, excel, power point, comfortable working in multiple systems.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work individually and within a team, detail-oriented, self-directed, and highly productive with little supervision.
