Position Overview


The Lead Therapy Coordinator is a pivotal role that ensures the alignment of departmental needs with the CAMC Health System's standards concerning regulatory adherence, strategic initiatives, human resources, budget oversight, and financial management.

This leadership role encompasses program execution, quality control, and educational guidance, while fostering a supportive work atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain effective communication with the Therapy Director and team regarding departmental requirements in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with administrative, medical, nursing, and support staff to deliver optimal services and comprehensive patient care.
  • Address and resolve patient and physician complaints through thorough investigation and problem-solving.
  • Assess and allocate workload to determine staffing needs, minimizing overtime while managing time-off requests to ensure sufficient coverage for regular and holiday shifts.
  • Clinical responsibilities include 40% patient care from Monday to Friday, with participation in weekend rotations required.
  • Ensure smooth transitions for patients throughout the healthcare system, coordinating nursing and therapy care with medical staff and other departments for comprehensive patient support.
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, promotion, counseling, evaluation, and disciplinary actions for personnel within the department.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new staff, introducing them to the work environment, equipment, and colleagues while coordinating educational programs to meet their needs.
  • Collaborate with the director to develop and update policies and procedures in compliance with standards set by CAMC, as well as state, local, and federal regulatory bodies.
  • Uphold standards of care and scope of service for the department, implementing and maintaining a quality assurance program.
  • Engage in the strategic planning process by participating in goal-setting sessions with the Therapy Director and staff to establish annual objectives aligned with the organization's mission and values.
  • Assist with departmental payroll functions, including updating records with staff scheduling changes and maintaining accurate pay and benefit documentation.
  • Support the Therapy Director in preparing and maintaining reports and records related to departmental activities, including monthly treatment statistics and schedules.
  • Interpret and enforce hospital and departmental policies affecting therapy personnel.
  • Identify the educational needs of current staff and collaborate with management and medical staff to coordinate educational programs ensuring competency for quality care.
Qualifications


Knowledge of patient demographics is essential for positions involving direct patient interaction. Employees must demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's patient age groups.

Competency must be demonstrated through initial orientation and ongoing validation to independently perform assigned tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and departmental competency checklist.

Credentials
