Event Service Specialist

Job Overview

Summary: This pivotal role is essential for the seamless setup, service, and breakdown of all catering events, including coffee breaks, full dining experiences, and bar services. The individual in this position will support the Banquet Captain in ensuring the operational success and management of catering functions and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently meets and surpasses guest expectations.
  • Communicates effectively with guests, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Maintains punctuality and adheres to attendance policies.
  • Delivers the highest standard of service to guests at all times.
  • Interprets Banquet Event Orders (BEO) and executes setups accordingly.
  • Ensures tables are set correctly and uniformly, utilizing clean linens, unblemished silverware, and intact china and glassware.
  • Prepares and maintains table complements such as salt and pepper shakers, sugar, and bread baskets.
  • Possesses thorough knowledge of the menu for each event and can articulate the main ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Keeps the service station tidy and organized during events, regularly refilling beverages and clearing service items as per established guidelines.
  • Serves food, beverages, and refills as necessary, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Handles special requests from guests regarding food and beverage orders.
  • Addresses any food-related complaints by referring them to the Banquet Manager.
  • Completes all assigned opening and closing duties, ensuring cleanliness in function areas.
  • Returns all reusable items to be cleaned and restocked.
  • Assists the Captain in dismantling buffet setups and other service stations.
  • Greets and serves guests, adhering to the principles of exceptional hospitality.
  • Follows all procedures related to guest checks and money handling.

Additional Information

Skills Required

  • Must be at least 19 years old to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Familiarity with various food service styles, including plated, buffet, and table-side service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests and team members.
  • Proficient in written communication.
  • Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions.
  • Knowledge of effective organizational practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Education and Experience

Prior experience in banquet service, preferably in a high-end hospitality environment.

Compensation begins at $12.50, commensurate with experience.
