Chief Physician of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services

Position Overview:
This role is responsible for the comprehensive management of all Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) services, both inpatient and outpatient, at our esteemed Veterans Affairs facility.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will foster a supportive environment for PM&R faculty engaged in research and will spearhead initiatives to enhance scholarly activities within the VA.

Compensation and Benefits:
VA provides a competitive compensation package, including:
- Salary: Competitive salary with potential annual performance bonuses and regular salary increments.
- Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off annually, including annual leave, sick leave, and federal holidays.
- Retirement: Traditional federal pension with a 5-year vesting period and a federal 401K plan with up to 5% contributions from the VA.
- Insurance: Comprehensive health, vision, dental, life, and long-term care insurance options.
- Licensure: Must hold a full and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
- Continuing Medical Education: Possible reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year for CME activities.

Major Duties:
The role encompasses overseeing PM&R inpatient and outpatient programs, providing clinical supervision to physicians and healthcare providers, and ensuring quality care for patients with rehabilitation needs. Responsibilities also include:
- Administering rehabilitation services effectively during operational hours.
- Addressing patient feedback and collaborating with advocates to enhance safety and satisfaction.
- Developing clinical processes for efficient patient scheduling and care delivery.
- Participating in recruitment and credentialing processes for PM&R staff.
Work Schedule:
Standard hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the basic requirements, including U.S. citizenship, a medical degree from an accredited institution, and completion of residency training in an approved specialty. Preferred qualifications include:
- Three or more years of supervisory experience.
- Two years of experience in providing PM&R care.
- Certification or eligibility from the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform light lifting and carrying, and to engage in various physical activities as required.
