Position Overview:
This role involves supporting the Pharmacist in the processing of prescriptions. The Pharmacy Support Specialist will engage in various technical functions of pharmacy practice, including prescription entry, packaging, inventory management, and record-keeping, as well as performing repetitive tasks related to prescription order processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records, packaging, and other essential tasks related to prescription fulfillment and dispensing.
- Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary information.
- Handle incoming calls, addressing patient inquiries and directing calls to the appropriate team members.
- Gather relevant patient information to support pharmacy operations.
- Assist the Pharmacist in ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations regarding procedures and record maintenance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED), or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience.
- Florida Pharmacy Technician certification required; National Pharmacy Technician license preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) is preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a licensed pharmacy is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are preferred.
