About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team at Hines. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information for our projects and business entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Property Manager to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions and general ledger.
  • Perform cash management functions, including monitoring and recording cash transactions, investing excess cash balances, and reconciling bank accounts.
  • Manage accounts receivable and payable processes, including A/R analysis and collection, A/R aging review, tenant correspondence, and preparation of monthly reports.
  • Assist with lease administration, including interpreting lease agreements, setting up new leases, recording rental revenue, and preparing tenant billings.
  • Post journal entries to the general ledger and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other basis of accounting.
  • Assist with month-end close procedures, including preparation of account reconciliations and general journal entries.
  • Enter original and projected budgets into accounting systems and assist the Property Management team with variance analysis.
  • Maintain reporting and budgeting calendars for the Property Management team.
  • Support Senior Accountants in preparation of audit schedules.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Two or more years of full-charge bookkeeping/accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ability to perform numerical and financial calculations.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret various types of data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Ability to compose business letters, reports, and summaries.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift general ledgers, files, and computer paper (approximately 5-35lbs).
  • Ability to work overtime as business needs deem appropriate.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $63,800 - $76,600
  • Bonus Pool: 3%
