Job Title: Tax Manager

Marcum LLP is seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team in our Greenwich, CT office. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for providing innovative individual tax planning, consulting, and compliance services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interact closely with clients to provide timely and effective tax planning, consulting, and compliance services.
  • Specialize in high net worth and individual returns, as well as flow-through entity tax areas.
  • Supervise and drive the success of multiple engagements.
  • Ensure complete client satisfaction through open communication, managing deadlines, and proactively sharing tax-saving strategies.
  • Provide proper representation with taxing authorities for clients under federal or state examination.
  • Work closely with Partners, Directors, and staff on client management, professional development, and business development activities.
  • Supervise, develop, train, and mentor staff, including performance and engagement reviews.
  • Be involved in practice development efforts of the firm.
  • Provide on-the-job training to subordinates.
  • Assist partners with preparation of engagement budgets, client billing, and staff performance reviews.
  • Review staff work product and ensure firm processes and quality control procedures are being executed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
  • Masters in Taxation degree or LLM in Taxation a plus.
  • CPA certification required with 5+ years public accounting tax experience.
  • Strong technical skills pertaining to tax preparation and review, tax compliance, agency correspondence, and tax research.
  • Proficient knowledge of CCH Axcess, Prosystems Fx, and Microsoft Office (Excel & Word).
  • Experience with Sureprep & GoFileroom a plus.
  • Ability to problem-solve and think creatively and logically.
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly and demonstrate knowledge of basic technical skills, as well as related knowledge of necessary systems and procedures.
  • A demonstrated ability to self-direct and effectively organize, prioritize, and manage multiple engagements under tight deadlines.
  • Outstanding leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills fostering client and staff relationships.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Effective listening skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy.
  • Experience in the individual/fiduciary tax areas is a plus.
  • Ability to attract and develop profitable, sustainable client relationships.
  • Ability to articulately communicate professional technical knowledge.
  • Decisively identify and execute solutions to problems.
  • Thorough understanding of complex tax issues.
