Position Overview:


The Patient Care Unit Supervisor is tasked with overseeing, implementing, coordinating, and managing patient care through effective communication with patients, families, nursing personnel, and other stakeholders within the designated unit, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.


Qualifications and Licensure:

  • Completed an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program
  • Currently licensed/registered in the applicable State. Must maintain an active LPN/LVN license in good standing throughout employment.
  • Preferred: One (1) year of experience in geriatric nursing
  • CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained during orientation. CPR certification must remain current throughout employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In-depth knowledge in the field of nursing practice
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary
  • Familiarity with practices, procedures, and regulations governing operations in a post-acute care setting
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Maintain professional relationships with all colleagues, vendors, etc.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and/or sensitive information
  • Adhere to company policies, including those related to harassment and compliance
  • Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following the organization's Code of Conduct and completing required compliance training

Essential Duties:

  • Effectively lead the daily operations of unit nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to provide guidance on the floor
  • Document accurately, appropriately, and in a timely manner
  • Manage and coordinate patient care and services through interpersonal interactions that enable patients to achieve or maintain optimal physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being
  • Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by a physician
  • Respond to emergency situations related to patient and staff safety in a leadership role
  • Collaborate with Registered Nurses (RNs) to coordinate patient care plans and services
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients
  • Assist in the safe evacuation of patients when necessary
  • Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance
  • Utilize reasoning skills and sound judgment
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during working hours
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
